Low Strings
Shawn Berry
Shawn earned his Bachelors in Music Performance from California State University Long Beach. He studied with Heriberto Ramos, Dr. Leif Woodward and Joon Sung Jun. He performed in masterclasses featuring Jans Jorgen Jensen, Dennis Karmazyn and Kimberly Fisher to name a few. Shawn has performed in many orchestras, some including American Youth Symphony, NAfME All National Honor Orchestra and was the principal cellist in the Orange County Youth Symphony and 2015 California All State High School Honor Orchestra.
Notably, he performed Variations on a Rococo Theme with the Orange County Youth Symphony, and Vivaldi's Double Concerto for Violin and Cello with Marc Roveti and the Festival Orchestra of Philadelphia International Music Festival, Music House International. Shawn currently teaches cello lessons, theory lessons in both private and classroom settings and performs all throughout Orange County. He also coaches the cello sections of the String Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra of Community Youth Orchestra of Southern California.
High Strings
Grace Lindsay
A Washington native, Grace grew up in San Clemente and graduated from SCHS in 2017, and the University of California Irvine with a Bachelor of Music Performance-Violin. After graduation she moved back to her hometown and currently works as a freelance musician, String Coach at, a Resident Performing Artist at Concordia University and has her own private violin studio.
She enjoys teaching students and finds no greater reward than teaching and bringing people together through their collective love of music.
Color Guard Instructor
Christian McCabe
Christian has been involved in the Southern California colorguard community since 2013. He’s performed with several high achieving ensembles like Gold Drum and Bugle Corps, Vessel Drum and Bugle corps, Vox Artium Winterguard and currently Icon Winterguard. He’s been educating at San Clemente for 5 years and looks forward to continue helping the students grow into confident high-achieving performers and as well-rounded and considerate young adults. His goal for the San Clemente High School Colorguard is to make productions he and the students can be proud of.
Visual Designer
Daniel Aguayo
Mr. Aguayo began teaching visual and designing drill at San Clemente in 2018. In 2019 he took on music arranging and has seven doing so ever since. He's designed for several schools in Southern California, Colorado and Nevada with many advancing to their competitive circuits championships.
Mr. Aguayo's marching arts experience began in high school but continued into DCI with both the Pacific Crest Drum and Bugle corps in Diamond Bar, CA (2006-2008) and the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps in Canton, OH where he aged out of in 2010.
In conjunction with designing, Mr. Aguayo has taught high school and Drum corps with groups such as Savanna high school, Mission Viejo high school, Crossmen Drum and Bugle corps and was even on staff at the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps in 2013 when the group earned it's first DCI World Championship.
