Welcome to all new TMA members and welcome back to all returning members! Just a few reminders:
- TMA Band Camp!- Beginning August 10th, all TMA members are expected to be ready to start the season. Working instruments, music, scheduling worked out, and a good attitude are all expected at the beginning of Band Camp. The dates for the camp are: August 10th is freshman day from 9am-1pm, August 11th freshman and new members 9am-4pm, returning members 1pm-4pm, August 12th-14th ALL MEMBERS 9am-4pm, August 17th-20th ALL MEMBERS 8am-4pm. Bring money to buy lunch or a sack lunch. BRING WATER AND WEAR SUNSCREEEN-You will be out in the sun for hours at a time.
- Pick Up for Music- Be sure that you have already picked up your music for this year’s show. I recommend making multiple copies. If you haven’t already picked up the music, contact Mr. Soto or any TMA Leadership member that has contacted you.
- This year’s show- This year, the TMA will be having a Cirque Du Soleil themed show featuring music from the actual shows themselves.
- Have your Paperwork Ready- To make the first day of Band Camp easier, please have all paperwork ready to turn in when you first arrive.

*See’s Candy forms and money are due tomorrow, Monday. Please put the top part of the order form and all cash and checks in the envelope provided and have your student give to Mr. Soto. Checks need to be made out to TMAC.
*The Winter Extravaganza tickets will be available for purchase this week. General admission is $10 and VIP admission is $15 (first few rows.) Please send your cash or checks (made out to TMAC) with your student to Mr. Soto. The dates for the concert are December 17th and 18th. The program is the same for both evenings…in case you have a middle schooler with a conflicting concert.
*The Mattress Fundraiser is this Saturday, December 6th from 10:00am to 5:00pm.Mr. Soto will have the student volunteer sign ups available tomorrow. This is a fundraiser for the entire music department and all families and students are encouraged to participate.
*Finally as most of you know the football team won in nail biting overtime play on Friday night! This Friday San Clemente High School will host the CIF final football game against Trabuco High School. The marching band will go as a pep band like last week. TMAC will not be feeding the kids as there will not be practice after school. Mr. Soto will send out a call time. We will be having the taco stand. It is going to be a great opportunity to make some money as there will be a big, hopefully hungry, crowd.Please email me if you can work the early 4:30-7:00 or late 7:00-cleanup shift. We also need donations of cases of water and soda, and ice.

Good evening TMAC families!
Congratulations TMA on a great marching band season! Next, on to Disneyland! No practice this week…Mr. Soto will announce when practice will resume for the performance at Disneyland.
**TMA will be going to the football game on Friday night at Foothill High School in Tustin! They will stop for dinner on the way so please send a bag dinner or money. Mr. Soto will send out an email with more information for Friday’s game.
**TMAC general meeting this Thursday night at 7pm in the band room. All band and orchestra parents are encouraged to attend. We will be discussing upcoming fundraisers.
We will also be briefly discussing the very successful 1st annual San Clemente High School Marching Band Competition. As this event is a fundraiser for the entire music department, we hope that next year all of the TMAC parents will become involved. Parents that volunteered, please bring (in writing) your observations from the event. We will be discussing the good and the things that need work, but please put it in writing just in case we don’t get to everyone’s comments. Or, email your thoughts to me!
Speaking of fundraisers… This week the See’s Candy Sale forms will be going home with your student. Please ask them for the form! I know in my case it would stay in their backpacks until they graduated if I didn’t ask for it! This is a great opportunity to support the music department and purchase delicious See’s candy for your family, friends, coworkers, employees, or yourself for the holidays!
**Saturday December 6th is our 2nd annual Mattress sale. We did very well last year and hope to do the same this year! All music program students will be encouraged to participate. The company that presents this event uses great motivation with the kids to get out there and sell, cold hard cash! More to come…
**Wednesday December 17th and Thursday December 18th is the Winter Extravaganza. This is a performance by all of the music and choir classes. It is also a fundraiser for both groups. Tickets will be available to purchase and TMAC (music dept.) will be holding a bake sale. We will be looking for donations of baked goods and water bottles, and also volunteers to work both evenings. You will be hearing more about this in the next weeks.

Wednesday night 10-29 at 6pm in the band room – mandatory
competition volunteer meeting. We are counting down and it is less than 2 weeks until we host the marching band competition. Please see attached list. You are assigned to one or two shifts. If there is a problem or I made a mistake please let me know. Also, please be flexible. We may need to reassign you to a different place if the need arises.
Thursday night 10-30 is senior night AND a home football game.
We need freshman, sophomore, and junior parents to help serve dinner for this special occasion honoring our seniors and their families. We will also have the world famous taco stand up and running that night. We need donations for the dinner and taco stand. Please sign up at www.perfectpotluck.com

This is going to be a very crowded game. Because of this Mr. Soto is having temporary bleachers brought in for the band to sit on for the game. They will be down on the track area. This frees up the white bleachers for spectators to use. Please try to get to the game early to save your spot. Also, the band will not
be performing at half time but they will be wearing their uniforms and marching in and performing a special song before the game.

The taco stand has been doing very well! We are anticipating a huge crowd and want them all to eat at the stand. So we need parents to step up and help man the stand! Please go to www.perfectpotluck.com

*Mr. Soto sent out the schedule for this Saturday’s competition. I am also attaching it to this email. I encourage all parents to attend the competition. I have told many of you that it is so great to be at an event where our kids are the stars! It is exciting to see all of their hard work realized on the field. *Finally I am also attaching the sign up sheet for the competition we are hosting on November 8th. We need everyone to help with this event! Please sign up for a spot and send back to me or just email me where to put you. If you have already signed up I will be assigning shifts. Let me know if you can only work an early or late shift, but I need everyone to be as flexible as possible. We will also need parents to donate easy ups for the day. Please let me know if you have one that we can borrow.

Friday’s away game at Newport Harbor High School was great! The football team is on a winning streak. If they continue to win we will have extra games to perform at and/or attend. We will keep you posted about post season games.
*This Thursday is a home game against Tesoro High School.
It is also middle school night, the chili cook off, and taco stand. So, we need a lot of volunteers and donations. Everyone is encouraged to submit a chili entry. Please bring your chili in a crock pot with your name on the bottom. You will be assigned a number and may the best chili win! You will need to have your chili at school by 4:30. We also need all the usual donations: water, ice, soda, salads, fruit/dessert. Please go to www.perfectpotluck.com

*The TMAC general meeting last Thursday was very well attended! I realize that not everyone could be there so the minutes from the meeting will be posted on the www.tritonmusic.org
website in the next couple of days. Next month’s meeting is scheduled for Thursday October 23rd at 7pm.

*I will be sending an email/spread sheet with the current volunteer sign ups for our competition on November 8th. We still need volunteers for the concessions. This event has the potential to be very profitable but we can only do it with the help of all of you!

Our end of band camp beach party will be located at Capo Beach (34900 Palisades Dr, Dana Point, CA 92624) and will go from 5pm-8:30pm Thursday, 8/28/14. Please bring enough of your assigned food -see flyer below- for 10-15 people.
6 PM: Parents please go to the band room for a meeting with the boosters, where we will have a short presentation for the upcoming season.
7 PM: Performance on the football field.
Our first football game is this Friday, August 29th. If you are in town please plan on attending; While not mandatory, these games are an important part of our school’s culture and our team really appreciates the support. That said, please let your section leader know if you cannot attend.
Also, please be sure to bring snacks or money for the snack shack.
